bubbles in cup not popping

I don't have a problem with my skimmer now after installing a sump. But before that I was having an issue.
The bubbles in the collection cup was not popping at all and it was flowing through the port on the cup's lid no matter how long I waited for them to pop. So I just kept emptying the cup every few hours and scratched my head in mystery.

Now I have the skimmer in a sump and bam its fixed. Any ideas?

Ive never heard of this but my guess would be that whatever substance it was skimming was coating the bubbles and making them more dense. Again this is just a guess but Im glad its working out since placing it in your sump. Sometimes my skimmer will produce larger bubbles vs the normal small. But no matter what they always popped. Did the bubbles have a film on the surface or did they look normal?

 

I'm going to guess the skimmer was running very wet. Is the depth of water it's operating in now any different than before, or did you adjust the air intake or water output at all?

 

It was a weird feeling when I touched the bubbles. they didnt pop when i touched them and they were dark green so it was nasty. I was thinking maybe my cup just wasnt big enough cuz it was blowing through the air vent on the cup's lid. Now its running fine. It must have just been a big surge of nastiness and the bubbles were just covered in thick slime.
