Bubbles

    untitled.JPG I have 30 gal bowfront. Just built and installed 29 gal sump.
    Everything running good. Except bubbles everywhere in main tank.
    Tryed everything thing i can think of. Open for suggestions.
    Driving me nuts.

    looking at your design you shuld noy have micro bubbles But your pump could be sucking air check your water levels

    Do you see bubbles in the sump too , or just the display ?
    Are you running a foam block on the return pump ? Some pumps come with a foam block to snuff the intaike and this helps reduce bubbles.

    From your pic you have the baffle closest to the pump too low. It should be the same size as the one out of the middle chamber. The water is falling from the middle chamber in the baffle and sending bubbles under the baffle wall to your return pump chamber. The water should not fall, it should just run over the top.

    Get that blue type sponge and / or a fine mesh sock seems to work also.

    I put somthing like that on my return pump I call it my sumps post filter it looks like a cylender that has a cap were you can put a sponge in it on one end and a 1in hole on the other I put in intake end of my powerhead 5000

    You will be messing with that sponge all the time keeping it cleaned. You do have a problem with your baffles. I tried to make a pic to show you what I was talking about. The fall of water (over #1) is pushing bubbles under you baffle wall. If that pic is to scale. Those walls should be the same height and 1" apart.

    I do I also keep a close eye on the flow making sure there is no restriction
