Bubbles

I have been adding sand and now I have a dew deep spots. Some of these are 4-5 inches and I have noticed bubbles coming out of the sand. Is this the sand becoming live as I have heard of some stating?

 

The bubbles are going to either be Oxygen produced by cyanobacteria or Nitrogen produced by anaerobic bacteria.

or since you are just adding the sand it'll be plain ole air pockets. they'll work their way out or since you just added the sand, you can get them out with a spatula, like cutting air out of a cake before you put it in the oven. just run it through the sand and the bubbles will come up, you won't get all of them, but it should matter.

 

Cuttingrass, I agree (you always find the simplest solution, don't you?) But whatever the bubbles are -- air, nitrogen or oxygen -- it doesn't matter if they stay or come up right away. They'll come up eventually.

 

So is one good and one bad then? I am trying to get two spots in the back of the tank 5 inches deep and 1 place out front the same way. I am almost there and there. I dident see any cyno but I see the bubbles through the glass in the sand not on top of.
