So I was at the lfs today and was talking to the guy about my clowns. He asked if I had an anemone for them to which I do not and he started talking about the bubble tips. Now I do plan on getting something for the clowns but was thinking more of a torch or frogspawn coral. I know sometimes the corals have a hardtime acclimating to the clowns if the clown is to rough or the coral to afraid to extend with the clowns around it can lead to its demise so it can be a risk, however I figured an anemone would be a larger risk since they are much harder to care for and can sting other/corals. How much of a risk is a bubbletip to other corals and how much light/care do they need?

They are a good starter anemone but are still none the less an Anemone and will be much harder to please than some of the soft corals you could use. They need light not to much not to little and like flow, they will do much better being spot fed. these can move around your tank and possible for them to hurt some of your corals, also as always there is nothing saying your clownfish will even host it.

I agree with the last part its not confirmed that the clown will host it. I had a BTA with a clown for about 3 months and he never even got close to it.

And regarding burning the corals, if you really want to try it then go ahead. I've had anemones along with my corals before, you just have to be careful. Sometimes when they find a spot they like they wont move for a while. The lighting also depends on the anemone I've had anemones that hide from the light under my rocks. I have a buddy that his anemone would post up next to his powerhead and loved high flow.

Thanks for the responses, I think I will go with my original plan and skimp on the dangers of an anemone and just get an lps coral

I mean if it's that you also want an anemone you can try out some rock anemone which dont move when they find a spot or a carpet anemone which might move too but ehh

Yeah I just got a bubble tip anenome from a friend of mine and I have two clowns myself the common kind not sure which but the regular ones but it took a few days but last night I noticed the anenome was on the move so I checked on it first thing this morning with the lights out just to see where he ended up at and I saw if not both one of the clowns sleeping inside of him the coolest thing.
