Anyone know of a reasonably priced and decent working RO/DI unit? My tap water is full of nitrates and im a poor college student so i cant afford to buy RO/DI waterfor every change. I recently have been getting water from a friends well that has almost zero nitrates, but its still not perfect. Any suggestions?

Craigslist. Other than used, there is no such thing as a "cost-effective" RO/DI.

After a gaining alot of info from a thread I started on ro/di's,i wouldn't go with used,it will cost you much more in the long run.The spectrapure 90 gpd is the best value out right now with hands down quality, they're on sale till the end of this month for $145,and compared to many other units is the best bang for the buck.

Why do you say that? I have an Air Water Ice Extreme Typhoon III 150GPD that I got used for $70, replaced the filters for around $60. Works like a dream...total $130.

And yes, stay away from eBay units.

agree 100% with grinder, I have a 90gpd SpectraPure model, my first unit & love it. The main issue with getting used units is you will most likely have to replace the membranes which will put you back over budget.

Here's the link good Dr., 2nd one down: SpectraPure Customer Appreciation SALE! 20% - 50% off
