You say the P.H is 7.9 to 8.0 first off what type of buffer are you using and how do you test the P.H ? P.H in and of its self means nothing really just show that their are some free carbonates in the system to handle the buffering of acids.. Whats more important is the Alk or DKH levels ..
These can be accurately tested with a test kit and the time of day means little to them, unlike with P.H the liquid test kits are iffy at best and seldom accurate and then again P.H at 6:00 AM won't be a true indication of P.H at 6:00 P.M . Also simply adding a air stone to the system can and will raise P.H .. If you are having an issue and P.H hanging at this level all the time I'd dare to guess that you are using a glass top on the system or a hood thats far to air tight maybe ? CO'2 will get infused in the water as it can't escape in to the atmosphere .

i am using saliffert buffer and instant oceans test kits on ph and alk and red sea cal i always test at the end of the light cycle. i use only half of the glass top to prevent splashing on the back of the tank for the electronic equipment, the canopy is not sealed in the back and it has 2 4in fans, one on each side. thank you!!!

what is your coral load like. the instruction on the bottle are just a guess based on what they think the average coral load is. but if you are packed up with corals you will need to dose more than the bottle says

the coral load is mod no huge corals or collanies the owner of the lfs is a marine bioligist and he told me add no more than 2 1/2 tsp as a boost to get it back up to 8.3 he knows my tank.
