Pics would be hard to get, they mostly come out at night, I know you guys know what they are, silver colored, they have a curved body and sometimes it looks like they are running on their side. When the lights go out, they come out and they are everywhere, on the Coral, the rock, the glass and their are 1000's of them. I think they are no harm to healthy Coral, they did eat parts of my dying Blue Waving Glove. The fish won't touch them, their to big. How can I cut their numbers back? I tried a Bristle Worm trap and got a few, but most are to big even for the trap.

Sounds like you're describing Gammarid amphipods to me as well, altho the critter on the glass are most likely Munnid isopods. However, you can take a look at our PICTORIAL HITCHHIKER ID GUIDE if they aren't what Toallhisdoom posted.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Cut back on available food source, the nutrients that you are feeding your tank.

If they do become problematic you can go the Interceptor route. Just be forewarned that Interceptor will kill off your shrimp and hermits as well.

I normally don't disagree with coralline but I've done interceptor treatment on my tank and shrimp and hermits made it through fine. Lots of others I spoke to with no loss to their inverts. I've read it can but not heard of a reefer recently that this has happened to. In the past maybe someone used too strong a dose.
What about trying a fish that loves pods to help eliminate your excess population. A wrasse or a dragonette would be cool.

    LOL,

    I agree with you.
I used a large dose and did not run fresh carbon or did a water change because I wanted it to be a one time treatment. I was treating for RB and I wanted as an effective treatment as possible.
I know a lot of others that did not loose their inverts and a lot that did.

So far I think they done no damage, except clean decaying coral, which is a good thing. I can't imagine their finding lots of food, I am carefull about feeding my fish and most the time I think I am not feeding enough, including my Coral. I will try to ready a picture when dark in there then suprise them with lots of light and get a pic that way and I do mean they are over everything.

if you want to get rid of some of them Ill take as many as you want to get rid of ;D

to catch alot you could try a glass jar with some heavy meaty food in it one night with a pice of string tied around it. wait till they came in and lift it up.

When I looked over your link, for the Amphipod it said "score" so it must be good huh? but also when looking it over I seen a guy in there that I think I have seen in my tank, living in a hole on a rock, a Bobbit Worm! I am sure it's him, he is fast too, so how do I get it out of there?
