    When I used Interceptor

    1. My pistol shrimp did eventually die, I had no hermits.
    2. Yes your pod population takes a hit, they are all Arthropods.
    3. Water clarity for a month or so is amazing, you do not have to clean the glass, no real film algae.
    4. You may or may not have a Cyanobacteria bloom after treatment, I have not and I treated twice.
    5. It's recommended that you do a water change and change out carbon, I did neither and my tank was fine with a fairly large does of Interceptor.

Thank you for the interceptor tips. You have really built my confidence using the product. Here is a better picture of the "bug" although it isn't that great either. I have been catching them every time I see them and putting them down the drain. I figure this is similar to doing multiple dips on the coral. Having a nano tank sometimes has it's benefits by being able to easily reach in and suck out some bugs. I caught roughly 6 of them yesterday and will keep a close eye out for them today. They sink pretty quickly so if you hold the beaker really close to the coral and slightly underneath it you can easily hit them with the turkey baster and... bam... they fly right into the beaker.

Ok so I gave up. After trying for a week to remove every bug I saw 3-4 times per day they just kept showing up. When I took the coral out to dip it i could really see the back side had completely bleached and the polyps were basically large holes in the coral. The top tip even had a green tint to it. After all this I decided to just toss the frag. It only cost me $10 and I was having a hard time getting it to grow anyways. Now my question is will these guys spread to the other SPS I have in the tank? I read they can be species specific and won't infest other species. The other SPS is an encrusting monti. If the bugs will not infest the other SPS how long should I wait before buying another monti setosa. How long do you think it will take for all the bugs to die with no host?

Or should I just dose the interceptor and wipe them all out for good? I don't really want to kill my tiger shrimp.

Oh for crying out loud just dose the Interceptor. There are tons of threads all over, show me one where it wiped out a tank or had any adverse results other than losing Arthropods such as Hermits, Shrimp and Craps and some Zooplankton. Expect a pod decline and remove Crabs, Shrimp as able. Some have reported a Cyanobacteria bloom a couple weeks after treatment, nothing dreadful.

You could also go the Bayer dip route, but I am pretty sure eventually your Black Bugs will be back.;) It may take awhile for the pest to return but I doubt the pest is limited to the frag, hence the reason I am in favor of treating the tank.

I'm going to dose the tank with interceptor as you have suggested. Then I am going to bayer dip everything from now on before it enters the tank. That should hopefully keep every bug out of the tank. Thank you again!

    Dose.

It's simple, painfree and harmless (unless your a tiny crustacean).

I tossed in my sentinel and forgot about it. No water change, nothing.
