Build your own awuarium concerns

Well since alot of people have been asking and always wondering how good the buildyourownaquarium.com stuff is well this is from what ive seen and talked to lfs in my area about. I go to my lfs bout every 2 weeks to check out there stuff, well there dt that looks pretty nice and has the not for sale stuff in it has one of these fixtures. It is the dual mh with the t5ho in it. For the last 3 months ive gone up there and all the corals and anemones have stayed the same, not any amount of growth or very minute. They are healthy looking but nothing for growing. I asked the manager thats in charge of there dept and hes really cool and we talked about the lighting. He was cool and said the ballast for the setup become really hot so they cant turn it on all the time and he also said its built decently but nothing on the quality of other brands. They are in the process of replacing them with name brand stuff and going from there, also just fyi so I dont get flamed and it wasnt just this fixture. They had 6 of them setup on other tanks and with all the same results.

So all of you guys ever wondering buy a name brand fixture your fish and corals with say it for themselves. Maybe some of you have ordered and havent experienced any problems but those few can prolly speak up and fill rest of us in. I myself am glad I talked to this guy at the store and went with somethign else to not be cheap in this field. I just wanted to pass this on to you guys and help you out, save up a little more and go with somethign else that is proven by others online.

ya not trying to knock it but since ive got some much good advice from 3reef that I wanted to share the little knowledge I have and steer new people in the right direction and not have them burn down there house or be so turned off by this hobby to never come back. I was so scared at first but now im already trying to talk the wifey into a 300g build!
