I cut in half the canopy that came with my tank, because it was ugly, mold/mildew covered and warped inside, covered the top of the tank making MH's impossible to use, and was flat out too heavy. Did I mention ugly and heavy?
So I made a nice lightweight one that I'll install 2 6-foot VHO actinics in and will have an open top for the MH lighting.
Here's pics from the last couple of nights.
Measuring and cutting the the 1x8 wood.

    Making sure it's square.

Added the trim up top and test fit.

Stain doesn't match the stand 100%, but close enough (might paint both black anyway).

Tomorrow I will paint the inside white and see if it needs another coat of stain. It should be ready for the lights by the weekend.

    Thanks Steve.
It fits exactly the way I "engineered" it, and it's very lightweight so I can very easily install and remove it without a helping hand.

I dont recall seeing it as it was before, but I can say what you have now looks in good proportion to the tank

Well, this was the old one that came with the 180:

I had it on the tank for all of 10 minutes before I gutted the VHOs out of it, cut it up, and put it out with the trash.
