    About 17"-18". The sand is about 2" deep, The tank is 16" tall and the light was about 4" above the water (I'm guessing that).

    I've since raised the lights to up around 8". I haven't checked PAR yet though.

    thanks for all the help guys i will contact mike and see what he says i will keep you updated whenever i start the build and get all the parts in
