I was wondering if it would be possible to use my wet/dry sump to build a refugium???
If anyone thinks this could be done and could give me some ideas and tips about how to do it and what to use and so forth PLEASE tune in and let me know bc I really want to get a refugium goin to help my corals and mainly help supply my mandarin with a sustainable amount of pods.
    THNK YOU

it can and has been done. I just added a baffle in my bottom compartment beside my skimmer and return pump.. thrown in some LR rumble, mangroves, and chaeto.

but the right way is to get rid of your drip tray, bioballs, and plastic cover (hose runs though) install a drip sock w/ bracket and let your drain line go to that. fill in that bottom hole/slot and make some holes/slot higher up in that compartment so water flows over that into your skimmer/return areas.. your bioball compartment will be your actual fuge install a Home depot clip on CFL light above that.

It's definatly doable although personally I've always found them to be a bit small for conversions like this, always seems to be a tight fit by the time everything is added.

It's definitely a tight squeeze. I just converted mine and there's not a lot of room.

Thank you for the input. I think I gnna follow ur idea except ill put a baffle between the return pump and bioball chamber and fill some live sand, lr, and some assorted macro algaes and see how it works out. I have a skimmer hangin on the main display but i have another i have to get another valve to adjust the air input and i can place it in the bhind the baffle by the sump but ill have to find a way to trap the bubble so there not blowing into my main display. Once again thank you guys.

Do you kno anywhere I can purchase acyrlic to make a baffle??

The Lowes near me has acrylic (for windows), and cuts the sheets for you too.

Thanx both of you, theres a lowes about 30 miles from my house i'll measure my sump to figure out the size of the pieces I need and get the baffles put in asap.
I have another question. Since I am wanting to increase the production of pods would adding that stuff called miracle mudd as well as live sand help or should I jus use live sand? Also what depth should I make the sand bed??

Not to make post huge but I was wondering if you guys think this would work:
I was going to seal the section where the bioballs were (I removed them awhile back bc they were causing me to have really high nitrate levels) and put the refugium there and remove all the other hardware, add a sock to the return line and stack up live rock where it comes in to reduce flow as well as cut a slot in the side to allow the return to flow almost entirely into the side where the skimmer/ return pump will b to minimize flow in the refugium.
Do you think this would be a good plan for turning it into a refugium???

yes using the bioball compartment will give you more room too. if I went that route I would have used sand.. but I just using live rock rumble and chaeto with a few mangroves. I seed everything will copepods and seems to work well. but when I do a future upgrade on my tank and my stand I will have a seperate fuge for sure. my wet/dry is just to small to get crazy.

Alrite awesome I can't wait to get it up and running!! I'm going to build it as soon as I can get the acrylic which will be wed. at the latest. The only thing I dnt have is some assorted macro algaes 2 seed it with I'm gnna try to get some from my local Petland but idk if they have very much.

Jus out of curiosity would a pc light be a good light source for it??
Also is there any way to seed the refugium to grow pods without having to order some pods off the internet bc that ends up real expensive after shipping???
THANX ALOT I havnt been a member for very long but I can honestly say if it wasnt for this forum my reef wulda crashed along time ago and i wulda gav up bc Ive only been in to reefkeeping for about 6 months now
