    Hello,

Im new here I have currently had my 50 gallon hex tank set up for over a year now and just getting tired of the look of my tank so im deciding to build a rimless glass 60-65 gallon tank. The dementions are 48x24x20 currently on my hex tank I have a 24" 4-Lamp T5 HO Light Fixtures from Aquatic life. It has (2) T5 HO 24W 420/460 Lamps (2) 24" T5 HO 24W 10,000K Lamps (2) 1W Lunar LED. My question is should I get a second light excatly light this one so i can light my new tank or will that be to much light. Im going to be moving in the direction of corals within the next year. Thanks in advance for any help

I would suggest getting a 48" 6 or 8 bulb fixture instead. By the way the volume is 100 gallons on the new tank.

Thanks for that I messed up the Calcs. I just recently bough that light setup so that is why i was asking about a second one cause that would give me 8 bulbs and I was wondering about the watts per gallon.

Watts per gallon are different on T5HO versus NO fluorescent.
It really has a lot to do with the type of light needing animals your wish to keep.

IME these are a good range for tank types
    Softies 2 to 2.5 watts
    Mixed reef 2.5 to 3
SPS dominant 3+ and you will need to provide protection or move LPS and softies to the lower levels and sand in this type tank or they will bleach.

Softies is the place to start? The tank will be 48x18x16 tall sorry I wrote the wrong numbers down. How do would i ensure that with my lighting is in the right range? Thanks again for the help I just dont want to be cooking the poor animals or not giving them enough to grow.
