i started just like you with the idea of making my own box but then everyone has the same thought about it... noisy! i was nervous myself about drilling but a lot of people here replied to my post with, DRILL IT!! well i did and for the 15 bucks i spent on the ebay bit i drilled 4 clean holes.. like everyone here told me... slow and let the dril weight do the rest

a drilled tank can mean a silent overflow system and a wayy cleaner looking setup.. well thats my opinion, i did a lot of research before ending up with the BeanAnimal style

I will join the "drill it" chorus. I have the CPR overflow but decided to upgrade by drilling my acrylic tank doing an internal box.

Ok... What are the benefits to drilling the tank? I've read that a lot of glass bottoms are tempered, which will crack if trying to drill. How can I tell if mine is tempered?

Wrong. Drill it and then use a bean animal setup. Durso's are outdated. If you were buyin a new computer would you install windows 95?

Benifits = cleaner setup, more reliable, quieter, and more fail safe.

You shouldn't need to drill the bottom of the tank. Just build a coast to coast overflow box out of glass. They are the most efficeint and quiet.
