building foam wall

    that looks great! but is it any different to carve it for a reef tank?

    You could do this way or one of the other ways. It's really up to you. It's nice cause you design the wall how you want and make little places for coral to sit or what ever. Again it's totally up to you how you carve it, thats the beauty.

    Here's my foam/rock aqua scape in my 90. I did it right in the tank and only used eggcrate to support and form.

    I used Dow Pond & Stone spray foam and around 60 pounds of rock.
    Yes you have to use the crate. The foam needs it for support otherwise you'll end up with just big blobs.

    is the foam you use some special foam where can i get it? at lowes all they have is that window and door insulation stuff thats black would that work?

    I got mine at Ace Hardware.

    I've heard you can use the yellow stuff, Big Gap Filler and have seen threads from people who have. But the Pond & Stone is made to be in water so I figured why chance it deteriorating a year or so down the road.

    I also painted Bob Smith 30 minute Finishing Epoxy on the foam after it had cured. Then sprinkled sand on it in an attempt to make a more natural look.

    hey reef monkey, any pictures of that tank stocked and matured? Id love to see what it looks like with some corals and livestock in it.

    thanks guys that helps alot i already have made the wall with the foam i had and i am going out now to get some epoxy to cover it.
