building new fuge for 8 month old 72

    the title says it all, im building a new fuge for a 8 month old tank i have a 15 gallon fuge and a 125 gallon w/d im replacing it with a 36" long fuge/sump how should i take care of the sand? should i totaly rinse and bleach it or what do you all think, i have 2 clowns a mimic tang a manderan and 4 or so soft corals. thanks all....

    If your talking about the sand in the fuge I would probably replace it. It shouldnt be too dirty after 8 months but i dont trust my rinsing skills with sand.

    Everyone has their own method that works for them, so you will get multi answers. I would "clean" the LS as you would if you where to syphon the sand when preforming a WC. This way your cleaning the LS but not killing any beneficial bacteria. Just my 2 cents.

    i also have 40lbs of live sand that is course and my fuge sand is super fine, can i use this in the mix if i rinse the old sand off first?

    I dont see why not, your not going to be feeding in the refug anyways.
