I am about to finally purchase a T5 setup for my tank. I found a nice set at a decent price, but would like to know if anyone had any experience with them.
    The unit is by buildyouraquarium.com.

48" T5 HO 6x54 Moon Lunar Reef Light
    3 actinic, 3 10k sunlight, 8 1wt. LEDs
    ventilated w/out fans
    individual reflectors
    3 cords/ 2 switches
    moonlights come with dimmer switch
2" legs (or can be layed on top of tank)

Do you think this is a good unit since it doesn't come with fans? Company says that it is ventilated enough that it doen't need fans.

What type of corals would I be able to keep?? Thanks

I think it should be fine. If it gets to hot, just do what i do and bring in a fan to cool off the tank hah. You might want to look into hanging the fixture rather than placing it on top of the tank. Makes things a lot easier.

I've heard they are not a top quality fixture with not the best reflectors but if you have good bulbs you should be able to keep anything under it especially if you keep good placement in mind for high light coral.

I have an 8 bulb setup from them and have no complaints after almost a year the reflectors are kind of a pain to keep clean i usually remove the bulbs every two weeks or so and clean it well.I run all ati's and having good results with acro's sps etc.I think if you are on a budget its a great fixture for the money.

bwalker9801,....so your unit doesn't come with something to cover the lights? Is that why you have to clean them? How do they perform as far as not having fans? Thanks?

No, the lights didn't come with a splash shield,I have fans in my canopy and haven't had any issues with heat.

I have the exact set up you are thinking about from them and I love it. My only suggestion is to hang it or prop it up off of the glass because my center brace of my fish tank melted from it resting directly on it. Other than that you cant beat it for the price. ;D
