    That would be per day.

If you only wanted to dose every 7 days and you were using 5 PPM per day it would drop from 480 to 445 and you would Need: 1074.7 ml; 36.3 fl oz; 214.9 tsp weekly. IMPO you would divide the dosage over a few days to minimize paramater swings. I set mine up to dose daily so I can try and stabalize my tank as much as possible and eliminate swings.

Just wanted to expand on this for the benefit of anyone else who is unsure about dosing

the above general figures are for increasing the levels of the respective Ions

maintenance dosages can be higher than these figures, if the demand per day is higher than these figures

If you had a tank full of SPS and clams and they would use 40ppm Calcium in 1 day, then you would supplement 40ppm Calcium in 1 day

the figures given are by no means an indication of the most you can add in any 24 hour period

they are general guideline figures , based on a need to increase the respective ions

for increasing - use the conservative figures given
for maintaining - use the amount that your system utilises

Good point Steve. Also if you are using a dosing pump/system you can spread the same dose out over the course of the day to help minimize the swings to the system.

    +1 on that Yamaharider

    additional information

dosing DKH/ Alk buffers is best done during the night, when all the lights are off

reason - Alk buffers can increase PH, thus adding these when the macro algae and other algae are releasing CO2 (which as we know drives down PH) can help to A - offset a nightly PH drop and B prevent a high PH increase which may happen if you dosed during daylight hours)

Calcium and Magnesium - can be dosed during the day - as these dont affect PH in the same way as Alk buffers do

But my calc didn't drop it rose. only my alk and Mag dropped from my last testings. I wanted to get my sg up so I could use the supplements. I guess i will have to make it trial and error.

no need to guess Reef Bruh
my earlier post took your present readings and your desired targets
and indicated that for Calcium and Alk - you need to divide the QTYS over a 3 day period (Ca during day / Alk during the night)
and the increase of mag - could be done over 2 days

sorry if my other posts have confused the issue

Reefbruh, I use the BRS supplements. I have a 46 BF with a few LPS and softies and I dose about 20 ml's of ALK at night and in the am I dose about 30 ml's of CAL. Once I go through 1/2 gallon of each I dump in 80 ml's of MAG. This is daily dosing and my levels are as follows: ALK 10 DKH, CAL 440, and MAG 1350. I use the recipe for lower PH.

Now I understand it. I was slow because everyone was saying add ppm's to it and I didnt know if I had to convert that to ml's. thanks.
