i have a couple of questions regarding set-up and flow rate. The directions are very vague! GFO-- now i used the calculater at their site and adding what they recomend over fills the canister. ok so may be i need two of them. i can live with that. the inner canister has three sponge wedge things, one for the top one for the bottom and one to??? i understand this wedges purpose for the GAC reactor but is it needed in the GFO? well i left it in on my first try and just removed enough material to have a small gap at the top.(for tumbling i guess according to the directions). However, this material expanded and i had no more gap! no tumbling of any kind is visable. I did purchase extra inner canisters so i prepared another. but the new canister did not have a middle sponge, again is this needed? so i did not use one this time. i filled the canister up so there would be a 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" gap at the top. i switched out the canister turned on the pump and it looks to me that my gap was once again to small due to expansion. i can see no tumbling of any kind. so some advise here would be awesome. now question #2: i am using a Maxi-jet 1200 pump, there is not a big difference from pump level to canisters, perhaps 8" to the input side. I have the valve set to max and i get just a trickle of water coming out. can this be correct? it would take approximatley 15 min to get a gallon of water. My 125 gal tank and 30 gal sump would take somewhere around 14 hours to have cycled through. so some direction would help as to how much flow is needed. i will add that i dont see any kind of plugging in the unit itself and my pump works fine. is the GFO canister causing the low flow??? what are some reccomendations to make things run correctly. thanks

I would suggest sending these questions to BRS. One of our fellow reefers said they are very willing to help and quite helpful. I think the third sponge is for use as a divider if needed.

I haven't used their reactors, but I have gotten excellent customer support on several other products.

The reactor is only going to hold so much. For my 90g itt is about maxed.... expansion and tumbling. I put in a cup and a half and maybe could go another 1/4 cup... but that is about it.

All that media you are pushing through is going to decrease pump out put. It will only do ~200 gph and that does not look like much....but you may very well have a trickle.

So you need to use less and change a bit more often. I would not use two. I put a Mag 5 on my dual reactor just to guarantee proper flow.

And by all means... call BRS... they have great customer service and will get you to where you need to be.
