Bulkhead?

    This may sound stupid to some of you but, what is a bulkhead on the aquarium community. For my being a former sailor, a bulkhead is a "wall" on the ship.

    With that being said, when I read a 1" bulkhead while reading about a tank or sump I'm specting to see a 1" "wall" on it.

    Please advise.

    They allow you to pass water through the glass, assiming the required hole is there. Im sure someone else will chime in and add more info

    You may recognize it more as a "thru hull" fitting.

    That I know... now I can put 1 and 2 together. I mean, is hard when you are use to a certain way of talking because military, another because of nationality and another because the hobby.

    I think it started out the same way, many bulkheads are in fact a wall on the back of the aquarium that the water falls into where it then drains into the sump.
