Bully regal tang

The regal and a fire shrimp have been in the tank together for awhile, not sure how long 6-12 months and all of a sudden the shrimp does not look him self,not moving around . I thought he might be dead but then the regal went over and started picking on him and trying to eat his tennacles and grabbing him and trying to drag him around. He looks like he is trying to kill him. This has not happened before, anyone know what is going on? Is the shrimp going to molt or something and is that why he is not hidding away when the tang goes after him ?

 

I would say you are looking at his molt, because they normally will get out of the way if something appears to be after them.

 

its not his molt because he will still move away somewhat but it looks like it takes every bit of energy to move at all and he does not get away from being picked on.

need to feed him some algae sheets to keep him from getting aggressive.At least 3 times a week.just put a small piece in an algae clip like 3 times a week and he will settle down in a couple of weeks

 

ok I guess ill have to try some algae sheets, can I get them at the LFS ? I have not seen the shrimp in a couple of days, I hope that regal never killed him.
