to make a long story short. i had a thread about my bumblebee that got himself stuck in an ornament and i manged to free him. now his injuries are showing and hes got the fuzzy looking flesh starting to come off his fins and a spot on his side(injuries from being stuck) so im going to put him in a 10 gallon fully cycled filtered tank. i know a good thing to do when fish have these injuries is to dose salt but i dont know what kind or how much. again it is a 10 gallon with a small hob filter. i want this guy to live as he pulled through like a champ from being stuck. please assist
    Thanks!!

Do not use salt of any kind! That is an old wives tale. It's like adding salt to your own wounds, OUCH!

The first thing you should to when spotting a more serious injury to one of your fish is to isolate that fish in a quarantine/recuperation tank where it can heal from its wound without being stressed or further injured by other fish. It can also be good to pad the wound with an antibiotic such as Mercurochrome or to add an antibiotic like tetracycline and chloromycetin (chloramphenicol) to the water in the recuperation tank to prevent the wound from becoming infected. A lower pH will help speed up the recovery if your fish tolerate lower pH values. A pH around 6.6 is ideal for healing.

    Hope this helps :)

A couple years back in my FW setup I had some nasty injuries on 2 catfish (syno petricola)

Think it was a burn from a heater but was never 100% sure, I did not have a QT tank so I kept them in the DT and dosed melafix. Those ulcers never grew any fungus or bacterial infections and nothing ever spread to my other fish and I am happy to say they healed up just fine and years later they are still doing great. Catfish are different then most fish though they can live through almost anything and will eat no matter what you do to them or what you feed them lol
