Bumped alk. to 4.2, seeing better results

    Perhaps it's a little placebo, but it seems like I'm getting much more accelerated growth after bumping my alk. up from roughly 3.5 to 4.2 three weeks ago. I wasn't getting very much growth at all until I did so and now it's quite noticeable. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few months.

    Yeah, I always kept it in the 3-3.5 range as that seemed to be what most people recommended, but after doing a bit of reading, I decided to try a higher concentration of alk. I like the results thus far.

    Just be prepared for additional CaCO3 build up on your tank and equipment.
