Ok well I posted about a craigslist deal I was going to get.
Wel I went and got it and we broke it all down and got home and when we went to put the tank on the stand, we noticed a large crack in the tank behind the overflow. sooo now I have all of this livestock and I don't have any filtration except a HOB filter and its helping but its not the best.
So anyways is there anyway I can fix teh tank?
Would just siliconing plexiglass on each side of the crack work? Since its behind the overflow, it shouldnt have that much pressure against it right.
We are going to see if peope who fix windshield cracks can come out and at least keep it from spreading bigger.
any other suggestions would be appreciated.
oh and if you live in Northeast Arkansas and want some new fish, I have 2 clown fish, a wrasee, 2 damsels, and a purple and yellow fish that need homes asap.

Get a new tank, do not mess with a cracked tank - doesn't matter where the crack is, the tank has not lost structural strength.

I am sorry for your troubles, put the live stock in a large rubbermaid bin until you can get a new tank - you should be ok.
If you do not want to set up a makeshift rubbermaid tank – bring the live stock to a LFS and I suspect they will house them for free until you are set up again.

IMO, you would need to replace the entire pane of glass. Even though it's behind the over flow and won't directly have a lot of pressure on it, the entire pane has a lot of pressure on it and a crack is a weakness. I would be afraid of the very likely possibility that the entire pane would break because the pressure will cause the glass on either side of the crack to move differently resulting in failure. I wish I was close to help you out, but no go. Can you ask a lfs to hold onto the fish or trade them in?

Here is a picture of the crack. sorry but the tank is kind of against the wall so its hard to get a good pictures

Watch for the crack to creep since it doesn't look as though it has gone all the way. Did you put the plexiglass all the way from the OF to the side pane? Good luck

the lexiglass goes teh whole length of the crack.
You can only feel the crack on the outside, you can't feel it on the inside.

Hope it holds, you really need to run a patch the length and height of the pane to be safest.
