Thanks for the advice. In hindsight I never should have listened to the LFS. He said adding 3 fish right away would be fine. Then I listened to him again and added another fish a week later that had no business being in there.

What frustrates me is that I successfully kept a 75g SW tank several years ago and then I make a rookie mistake like this. I think from now on I will not be listening to the advice of the LFS.

My main concern now is finding the RG. If he's hiding and not coming out, then he will not be eating and eventually will die too.

I am going to replace the carbon filter in the next couple days, check parameters over the next couple weeks and see how I'm doing. Hopefully, my scooter blenny will pull through!

Update--there has been a royal gramma sighting! Not sure how long he'll last consider he hasn't eaten in two days but at least he's not dead!

I'm glad the royal gamma is still hanging on.
I agree with the too young of a tank, stocked too fast theory. Your nitrates are 30, which could be because of the deaths in the tank or because you're just now starting to finish your cycle.

As a rule of thumb, I do not listen or let the LFS convince me of buying stock anymore. I come here and ask, then I go and test the LFS personnel's knowledge to see if they're trustworthy or if they just want to sell you stuff.

Yes made that mistake yesterday

lfs are not very helpful when starting out. I will now always ask here first ;)

You might want to do a wc if you want to give him a chance IMO - maybe a 30% wc - it might prolong your cycle but could keep the little dude alive - or bring back to the lfs till your done cycling? Just a thought.

Good luck - and this hobby - or obsession teaches you a lot. I do love it.
