butterflyfish and lps corals

    hello i know that most butterfly fish will eat soft corals(tree, polyp, mushroom,etc) but will they eat lps corals(hammer, gonipora, torch, etc) thanks

    Yes they will most likely be on their dining list.

    Even if they don't full on consume the coral, they will tend to nip at it while grazing from one side of your reef to another, the nipping will result in a retracted unhealthy coral, possibly death.

    That being said, I've seen very amazing reefs that have butterflies in it, so, it can be done. Would I do it? How pretty is the fish?
