    Over a 3 gallon tank? I would say that's plenty. Especially for button polyps. My guess is the nitrates.

    And considering it's literally less than 4 inches from the bulb, I felt the same way. But the point that irr made that 6w is 6w made sense as well. I'll give it a chance in my tank for a while to see what happens.

    But 6 watts is NOT 6 watts. You think a 100W incandescent over a 10 gallon tank giving it 10WPG is going to sustain a clam? Think again.

    What's important is the TYPE of lighting. The WPG rule is old and outdated and shouldn't even be referenced anymore.
