Depending on how high your phosphates are, I doubt they are the problem. What is you lighting situation? I would be willing to bet it has something to do with that mystery coral or the salinity.

Also, if your tank is only 3 months old, you might want to wait a while on the anemone.

Some other possibles: fish or inverts nipping at them, nuisance algae near them stinging them, the change in lighting (I acclimate mine gradually to change in light intensity caused by rearranging the LR, etc., also, they can close for 10-14 days for external cleaning and then suddenly open again

I had a similar problem with a colony of green polyps. They did not open for a while, mostly, brown or white lumps...I then detected a high phosphate level, have that under control and they are getting back to their original state. Slowly they are all opening up to their full green color...Hope this helps...8)

your tank may be boring, but before you bring one of the most difficult creatures to maintain, into your aquarium, you might want to figure out how to keep your parameters spot-on, constantly, and consistently. It doesnt need to be up and running for a year, but it does need to have near-perfect water conditions, and water conditions that do not fluctuate(and that is why they recommend them for 1+yr tanks).
