I had been wanting to add some shrimp to the tank for awhile and thought some peppermints might be nice,so when I saw that my LFS had some in stock I immediately said "gimme three good sized ones"and happily added them in.It's been one week and I've already lost three heads of hammer coral and two of frogspawn.I believe at least one of my shrimp is a camel shrimp, and yes I caught him in the act of devouring the polyps.I have a trap set now consisting of a small water bottle baited with a piece of table shrimp.Any more ideas on catching this guy would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Use a net, and sweep towards the corner of the tank, away from the rocks. Shrimp will pretty much only move backwards when they're scared.

Sucks I have heard so many stories about getting camel shrimp instead of peppermint. Sounds like I would be at the LFS that sold them to be raising holy hell!!

    Best of luck to you!

I ended up not doing enough research so in my case it was my fault
the camel shrimp being stripey and pink, reminded me of candy canes and thus peppermint ?

someone on this site, kindly pointed out to me that the 2 peppermint shrimp I thought I had in my nano - where in fact Camel shrimp

I did lose some yellow polyps and a couple of Zoanthids - but fortunatley with a 5 gallon, you can get everything out, isolate the problem and everything back in, within 60 mins

    thats what I did

shrimp shoot backwards when you make a move on them. (Back and up usually) Next time his back is exposed slowly move a net behind him while drawing your attention to your other hand. When the net is in place, simultaneously scare him with your bare hand while swooping the likely escape path with the net. Not sure if it made much sense, but it works.
