I was wondering about buying corals online. Do I need to be at my house waiting for the shipment to arrive, and get them in the water asap. Or will they be ok till I get home from work? Should I just pay extra for saturday delivery? I guess I want to know how hardy these corals can be. I am talking easy care corals. Not moderate to Expirenced level corals. Thanx

I would do the saturday delivery this time of year. If that box is sitting on your porch in the sun cooking all day I would fear that it would turn out to be a bad experience for you. Even if a neighbor could just grab it and bring it in the house I think you would be ok..

I # 1 that.. I just ordered a coral, from the same place as you..

Get there on Sat.. 15.00 extra.. I'm home 24x7 so no problem for me..
I Also put in a note so they know it's well into the 90's here.. So they should use ice packs.. You HAVE to have someone there when the corals get there..
So they want get TO stressed.. Even someone that lives next door..
Some corals ship better then others.. Even the same type..
But you do need someone there.. Even in cooler weather..

    Stress, heat, etc..

    Good Luck, Larry

Usually you need a signature to receive the package, so you would have to be home. I would do the Saturday Delivery.

I see you're in TN, like me, and it's HOT. I also agree that a neighbor would be your best bet, or Saturday delivery. I would be very concerned about a package sitting on my porch all day in this heat!

I have had no problem with priority shipping and leaving it on my porch. No problems here if you are ordering from a company. They do a pretty good job of packaging its the fellow reefers you have to worry about!

The only problem alot of us would have is, with the heat index at 100+
in the shade.. Anything in the sun for hours. Would be history..
    Tenn has been very hot..
I know northern In, Il. Has had some cool weather.. My Sister lives in Hammond., In.
    But Nightstick it's been
    REAL hot down here..

And yes, we have to watch out for fellow reefers, AND I don't trust the Fed-Ex person.. !!
    LOL

Is there any way you can have it shipped to your work? I've gotten corals and even fish shipped to my work, which works out really well. There's always a receptionist there to sign for the package, she's actually deathly afraid of hurting anything so she's super careful just bringing it to my area. And even if the package has to sit for any length of time, its at least sitting in a climate controlled environment.
