Has anyone here purchased fish from the net? if so what sites did you use. I see advertisements all the time but i can imagine how this could be a pretty bad idea.

There are quite a few sources from the net that are very reliable when it comes to livestock. My personal favorites are:
Aquarium Fish: Tropical Freshwater Fish and Saltwater Fish for Home Aquariums
Reef Fish, Marine Fish, Coral, Aquarium Supplies & more - Saltwaterfish.com
and Saltwater Fish, Buy Saltwater Fish, Exotic Saltwater Fish, Large Saltwater Fish

liveaquaria and saltwaterfish do a great job when it comes to fish. They qt for so many months and make sure the fish are in tip top shape. But they are quite pricey alot of the time. Saltwaterfish has some good promos and each dollar you spend goes towards reward points for free stuff on future purchases.
Aquacon has a 40% off list that is updated weekly but I wouldnt recomend getting fish from them. After several orders of the fish being sick and having ick I dont order fish from them much more. Their corals are great though and reasonably priced at that.

To clarify, this is true for Diver's Den on Live Aquaria and Eye It/Buy It on Saltwater Fish. All other fish from either company come from the ocean, are dumped in a bin, rebagged and re-oxed, and off they go again within hours. No one looks to see if it's eating, healthy, has ich, flukes, etc. The prices are cheap because they don't have to pay for rent, electricity, water, medicines, salaries, etc.
