I am ordering 4X54W TEK T5 Lights today from reefgeek. They include the bulbs so which ones should i go with? I would like to have a little blue tint, but not sky blue. Also what about moonlights? can i add some strips to my light? Where do i get them?

    Thanks,

    Casey

moonlights are good if u want to keep a light on overnight.. as to where to get them most of your lfs stores carry them. im runing twin pc 55w 10000k bulbs and then at nite sometime i run my t-8 blue antic lights all nite sometimes i dont just if i remember to shut them down. moonlights help with seeing your tank alive and moving when all your other lights are off.. other creatures come to life when lights out... take that into consideration as well.

I posted this in another thread but these are some options for my tank although I like them pretty blue.
    ATI Blue+
    UVL 12kk
    ATI Blue+
    ATI ProColor

    ATI Actinic
    ATI Blue+
    UVL 12kk
    ATI Blue+

If you want less blue you could swap one of the ATI Blue+ for another UVL 12kk. Also you might consider getting one extra bulb so you can change things a little bit if you want. Maybe order a Blue+, Actinic, 2x UVL 12kk's and a Pro Color for example that way you have some options to get the color you want. That's what I'm going to be doing anyway. :)

As far as using moon lights with fixtures I have no idea how you would attach them or where you would mount them, I do like having them on my tank and will be putting them on my new tank it's just tricky with fixtures like that I think.

moonlights are IMHO simply for aesthetics, but I will agree done right and they look fantastic. I just might get a couple and rig them onto something.

Moonlights do hold a purpose. It can help with the spawning of certain corals and fish.
For the bulbs, I would recommend 2X UVL 420nm's and 2X UVL 14000K's

These leds are pretty easy to add to any setup.

Lunar Light Nocturnal Aquarium Lighting Simulators

just do a search for them. You get the main one with the power plug, then get the links to connect several together, also put them where you have good surface movement to get that cool reflection on the bottom. The have several colors. As far as I know they just look cool, not sure if they have any beneficial uses.
