I'm putting my tank back together in January and I am going to build a sump for it.

I have been researching skimmers but I have no idea what I need for my 29 gallon. I will be running a small fuge also.

    My budget runs from 100-200.

    Thanks in advance.

I am running the aqua c remora hang on for my 65 and I think it works great BUT if you are building a sump and want to put your skimmer directly inside it, then I would say you can't go wrong with this one

Well I might just go with the hang on just so i can have a bigger fuge.

Which model do I go with, I don't understand all the differences here.

For your tank I would go with the ACRDM and also get the pre-skimmer AC3323. The pre-skimmer even though it's not needed will take the water from the surface which is loaded with more organic crap that you want to pull out PLUS it hides the pump. Also get the drain fitting just for piece of mind. I had a skimmer go into shock one time and started overflowing onto my floor - good thing I was home to catch it and although it will probably never happen again why not have an outlet that can drain back into the tank in case of a problem.

On another note, the skimmer is a bit tricky to set up initially and can be loud before it goes through breaking in totally but once functioning properly, it works great IMO

Can you link me to the skimmer you are suffering to? Sorry but this is all new to me and I'm really confused. I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you.

here is the link - it's the same one that you posted earlier.

    AquaC Remora/Remora Pro Protein Skimmers

Those numbers I was referring to are the item numbers listed here but search around if you want a better price. Don't remember where I purchased mine to be honest.

can you just buy a external skimmer. If you buy used you could get a skimmer under 200 dollars that would take care of a 200 gallon tank. Just start looking, Precision marine, aqua c ev, aqua euro recirculating external, reef devil, warner marine...
good luck thow are all decent brands that will do the work

Precision marine man check out my thread on asking if mine was ok. I think it's very well made and for $169 with a slight cosmetic blemish you couldn't go wrong. I only asked if mine was working cuz i'd a noob but I do know quality products ! :)
