I have read and read and read on here and can't make up my mind and honestly my head is about to explode with all the information. I have a 48X24X24 120 gallon tank. My lights are failing and I need to get something relatively soon. I like a more blue color in my tank - closer to 20K. I will need to mount the fixtures about 5-6" above the waterline due to my hood.

I am considering the following but need help on lens angle given my height limitation -

    2 X Maxspect Razor
    2 X AI Vega
    2 X Ecotec Radion

From what I can tell, none of these stand head and shoulders above the others, it is more preference and taste.. basically any of these are great, will grow my SPS, LPS, etc just fine and wouldn't be going "wrong" with any of them, right?

Please help a confused guy out..

    Thank you!
    John

Will they be hanging or do you have to mount to the underside of a canopy?

I wouldn't suggest radions then. They mentioned that radions need to be 8 inches off the line to be covered in their warranty.

Looks like the AI Vega is ideal, they have best performance 4" above water.

"These lenses are designed to have the highest par approximately 4 inches above water line."

Chinese Ebay 120w's, w/ multiple colors and dimmers- had to say it, sorry.

I'm sure the lights you have listed are great, and the adivise spot on.

Not everyone is looking for a budget Chinese fixture. The control options are nothing compared to the ai Vega or radion. Many people want independent color control which most Chinese mass produced fixtures lack. The ai Vega is an amazing light and so is the radion.

If he's in my situation (canopy has a lid), then likely none of the above will work and you have to go a DIY route like Rapid or Steve's so you can direct mount to the underside of the lid.

My canopy does have a lid.. The lights I have now are direct mounted to the top of it. I think 6 inches is the max distance I can get without serious modifications.. So radions are out then?
