Hey guys I've never purchased livestock online and am looking at liveaquaria.com and saltwaterfish.com and am confused about how these sites are better than going to my lfs and buying livestock. The cost of shopping from buying online is very expensive which drives the cost up. For an example, I was looking for a yellow watchman goby and havent been able to find one locally so I searched online. After sipping it was 59 bucks for a watchman. I know alot of people swear by buying online but whats the trick of finding a good deal?

    Thank

I buy the lion share of my fish online from Live Aquaria and corals from a few different places, including World Wide Corals. Why do I do this when it is so much more expensive?

    1) Health. Go to liveaquaria.com and read their quarantine procedures. They make sure their fish are as close to disease/parasite free as you can get - never 100%, but they are the best in the business for this.

    2) Selection, pure and simple. You will find things online that your LFS will seldom have.

    3) For me, convenience. I have only one LFS that is decent and in close proximity to me - which is a shame since I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you're looking for deals then buying online isn't for you. If you want any of the above then it may be.
