We all know skimmers can make all kinds of noises doing there jobs but this noise was a real mystery. I have a Odssea pro-pak on a 20 gal. that does a very good job. It's been working about 4 weeks and a few days ago I could hear a noise coming from it named in the Thread Title.Tried all kinds of moving and adjusting of hoses and Etc. with no resultes. This sound got soloud it could be heard in the whole back of the house. Yesterday I got to messing with it in cleaning on the tank and noticed if the skimmer was pushed from the back it stopped. The skimmer clears the wall by about 1-1/2 in. Pushed an old Algea sponge in between the wall and skimmer and----no more buzz-humm. My thinking is the PH running caused a resonating vibration between the skimmer and the wall. Anyway all you hear now is the jillions of bubbles hissing like normal.

It hasn't run a full 4 weeks yet but I'm going pull it out and check the impeller this week when I do the WC and other cleaning.

Yah, if my in sump skimmer touches anything, it does that as well. I isolate all plumbing and devices now.
