As gymnothorax tile is a brackish water eel, it can stay in brackish and saltwater.. well the immune system of this eel is better in saltwater/brackish.. So i was planning on buying one for my reef. i have kept it before in my brackish water cichlid tank and it did great.... anyone has ever tried to keep this?

Can't seem to find anyone who has one in full salt permanently.

I have found lots of information out there on them. Most people are keeping them in brackish, but I did find a couple of people who are keeping them in full fresh water.

From what I have read, they seem to be extremely sensitive to water parameter changes.

I might try one, but I would make sure my tank is rock solid stable first. And QT like crazy. Apparently, they are very sensitive to diseases as well, and don't survive most medications.

Any kind of Eel in a reef tank is a huge mistake.IMO They are very clumsy and rough on corals. They can also knock things over.Predatory animals are usually a nightmare on water conditions.

I must say I actually agree with this^^ Had two eels, a snowflake eel (probably the one your talking about) which was a brown one not the marine white snowflake eel and a yellow head moray in a predator tank and i really wanted corals but did not want to get rid of them so i put them in the reef and it was a nightmare. they throw sand all over the damn place and try to dig under the rocks and knock everything over and anyone who says keep it fed and it wont eat nothing is full of **** because eels will eat there tank mates whenever they feel like it. before the corals i had a lion fish, a puffer, and a niger trigger and mine would rip my lion fish a new one until it died killed the puffer by taking a chunk out its stomach and ate the 5" trigger fish whole, eels in general dont have good eye sight so if it looks like food it is food not to mention your parameters will definitely end up going way to crazy from the eels food needs and there super messy and kill the coral since they crap all under the rocks where you cant see raising nitrates. trust me that thing will be a burden to the reef and will swim and swim not caring the slightest what they hit and they love to jump so that a caution as well. I had to restart my reef tank because of my eels and got rid of the eels finally
