i have been raising my alk and mg over the past few weeks. to get them to the correct levels and to try to lower the ca. the alk was originally at 10 dlk and the mg was at 1100. i have been using the salifert liquid Mg to bring up the Mg and and kent marine pro dkh buffer. the Ca hasnt moved at all. i have crushed coral as the substrate. could this be the cause? i dont want to switch it out for sand. i dont have/use a protein skimmer, if i added on what else besides the Ca would it have an effect on? with the alk being at 14 i dont want to raise it any more. i know i could go a bit higher on the Mg but only by another 150ppm. what do u think?

Once you get the mag straight the cal will level out. 1350 is not to far off though. Slow down on the dosing and the cal will come down.

thats the thing i am not dosing with Ca. i do regular water changes. with tap water. tested the water out of the tap and it is 30ppm. i live in vancouver canada the water out of the tap is world class. the ingredients for the liquid Mg. is sulfate, bromide, and chloride salts of Mg, Ca, and sodium. hmmmm
