Hello, just wondering if anyone really uses or has seen substantial benefit in using a second chamber on their reactors? I could only assume this would be more useful in large tanks upwards of a couple hundred gallons?

I have use one for a while to help with the pH changes. It seems to help some for this purpose but what worked better was to route the Ca Reactor output into the skimmer for extra aeration.

The main reason to run the second chamber is to get a bit more capacity out of the reactor....with the 75g system, I could not discern a difference in this regard.

I run a PM second chamber to help use the CO2 instead of wasting it. The low pH of the effluent rises in the second chamber instead of being added back to the tank water column. This way you get the most out of your CO2. Doesn't really need to be a 200+g tank.

I agree with otty that it doesn't need a 200 gallon tank. As a matter of fact, if I had a smaller tank I would be using a second chamber to help bring the effluent ph back up. I have a 200 gallon system and have been able to keep my ph up fine though without the chamber.

It depends on the brand and style of ca reactor whether a second chamber is really needed.

I know that GEO Ca reactors do not need a second chamber due to the design of it. Other brands actually benefit quite a bit from having a second chamber.
