cal. high and alk low???? please help!!!

ok thanks u just put in a new chunk of LR covered in coraline. my mg is at 1220 and im still bringing it up and my kh is at 6.5 which i am still bringing up so we will see

 

what do i want my alk at it is at 8.6kh now

so should i not go up any more. i saw some where someone said to have it a like 14kh

 

Your Alk level really depends on you and what your trying to keep. For ex;
Ppl who sell frags for a living like to have they're Alk @ 14-16, Mag @ 1500-1600 and Cal @500-650 b/c the corals tend to grow faster under those conditions. Most ppl usually have their Alk @ 8-12, Mag @ 1300-1500 and Cal @ 400-500. If I where you, I would keep it between 8-12. Do you have a reef or a FO set-up?
