My cal is now up to 560 and I have not dosed for it at all. Why is this. Is this affecting my corals? Other parameters are
    PH8.3
    Amm 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 0
    DKH 13
    Phosphate .5
    Cal 560
    Mag 1540
    Salinity 1.026
    Temp 78
As some of you may know gras is trying to save some of my corals and my Zoa's and GSP are not opening up well at all. I don't get it. Help

most people don't need to dose calcium. only if you have a sps tank you might need to. if you have a good salt mix you should replenish enough of the calcium through water changes.

edit i would try to lower your calcium though, stop dosing if you are, its not gonna kill your corals but its above whats found naturally in the ocean

Your levels are good, if you want to lower your Cal, raise your DKH to 14-15 and your Cal will start to lower. Or, do some WC's. Luna

So I guess I'll have to try and find my other culprit for my corals not doing so good. At least I am keeping my parameters good. I still need a phosphate reactor and I working on that. Thanks guys.

GSP's and zoa's will randomly stop opening for a while with no apparent reason. If you want, you can try holding the frag near a powerhead and seeing if it blows any debris off that may have settled on them. You can brush off the GSP's with an old toothbrush/soft brush under the powerhead and see if that helps too. But I wouldnt worry unless they havent opened for about 2 weeks or more.

IO was not made for reef tanks.....it's for FOWLR tanks. However, in this situation, a water change or two with it will lower you back down to NSW levels.

Oceanic is typically too high in both Calcium and Magnesium as you have found.

Hi, how long has the tank been up? I looked in your profile and you have crushed coral. Over time calc from the crushed coral leeches into the tank, a good thing, but if the tank is relatively new that could account for the reading, as long as you are sure the test is accurate. Make up a batch of "water change" water and test to see how much calc is in there. Are you a frequent water changer? If calc is high in the water change water, then doing more changes will only exasperate the situation.
