calcium a bit low!

    Checked my calcium and its at 400ppm. I want to try and increase it to at least 450, What should i do? I am currently using B-Ionic.

    cal:400ppm
    Mag:1500ppm
    Alk:1.7-2.8meq/l :-/ (Piece of crap red sea test kit :mad: )

    I think the desired range is 400-450 but i want mine a little bit on the high side.

    My calcium level is over 500 with great results!!! As long as it doesn't precipitate on your substrate areas or effect your pumps and powerheads etc. due to excess calcium, a higher calcium level is fine!
    You will want to check your alkalinity and magnesium levels though as the will become lower or become depleted with a high calcium level. May have to add alkalinity buffer and magnesium salt to compensate for the high calcium level is all.

    You should of waited unitl the tank was totally cycled so that you could make water changes to get things back in line. You are starting to get in a hurry on this tank and it will bit you in the long run. I am afraid that doing water changes now will delay the cycle. What week are you on?
