My tank has been up and running for over 5 months now and as of this posting this is my parameters:

SG - ~ 1.027-1.028(Totally my fault due to a bad refractometer solution I was using so I was taking 5 gallons of my tank water out and adding salt to it to bring it up because my refractometer said my SG was 1.022-1.023 and I was doing that method to bring it up. So I am doing the reverse to slowly bring it back down.)
    Ammonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - <5(Depending on which LFS is testing)
    pH - ~ 8.1 - 8.2
    dkh - ~ 11
Phosphates - .39(I know this is still high but it has dropped and I know will stunt my coral growth until it is below .05)
    Calcium - 540
    Magnesium - 1550

So my readings were higher previously and trust me when I said higher so I did a 30 gallon water change. Every thing pretty much dropped except the last two items which have been pretty constant for the last 2 - 3 months. I haven't added any BRS 2 part solution in over a month. I was recently told that those numbers will stay high because I don't have anything in my tank to absorb them.

I really need the experts on this one. Will I need to buy full colonies or get a load of frags to deplete these high concentrations?

    Thanks.

Water changes with any salt other than Red Sea Coral Pro should bring them down over time.

I am using Reef Crystals as of now. I love that salt. So more water changes with that will bring it down?

It should...my Cal and Mag levels with RC are 380 and 1140 respectively. I dose it up to 450/1300. It should bring it down, but with your total water volume, it might take a little bit.

Are you adding anything in terms of buffers or additives?
If not, it could be a result of your high SG. While you where trying to correct your SG you where also adding CA and MG. I would just let it come down on its own. Those levels are not doing any harm to the system.

I haven't added any buffers in about a few weeks. But I did perform the same thing about that same time frame and was adding buffers also. But seriously, will it go down naturally? So should I go back to not doing a water change as I haven't done one until last Sunday?

Yes. It will go down through water changes faster...just do your normal regimen. It will not hurt anything right now.

The question still remains is will adding the colonies of corals that I can purchase or the mini frags corals will also help the problem?
