Calcium buildup?

I am converting a 30 gallon tank to a FOWLR setup (my first). The tank was a freshwater tank previously, and I have tried to get the calcium off the glass with white vinegar and elbow grease. Its still there. Can't seem to scrape it off either. You can't see it when the tank is full, and the tank is otherwise clean, so my question is...will it be ok if I leave it?

what color did you decide to paint your back? im painting my 20 gal high pure black

 

I went with flat black Krylon spray paint. Taped off the edges with masking tape and newspaper, and used about 3/4 of a can in several coats. It looks pretty good (at least I think so)

 

Paint VS Contact Paper

I have opted to use contact paper at the back ot the tank, if you decide to change the color from black to blue, it is much easier to remove tham to peel the paint. Just and idea.

 

Contact paper...hadn't thought of that. I have used the tape on kind before though, and from what I've read here salt creep can get behind that on can make a real mess. Let us know how it goes with the contact paper, though.

 

I have used vinyl paper before the kind you use for lettering on signs and there is no salt creep then, o though is hard to peel off also

 

i just painted flat black and polyurethaned it. But do remember, my paint will be in contact with SW 5 coats of Poly, man is it shiny
