Hey i was looking at this two part kit too. I have no sump with a fluval canister filter. What would be the way to use this two part kit? Mix with top-off water?

Sorry dont mean to thread jack.

A few different ways: 1 get dosing pumps, I do not recommend this for someone right away.

Just dose on a daily basis, pour the cal, or alk directly into the tank slowly in a high flow area.

Make sure to do your research on this, there is a lot to know. Tons of info on this forum.

You could also go the kalkwasser route where you put it in your ATO water. Once again do your research.

What kind of kit are you using for alk? You Ca and Mag seem ideal have you repeated the test to confirm your Mag level being that high and not a random testing error?

Most of all how does the tank look? Fish, corals, inverts? If everything looks healthy and is growing than there is not much of a need for concern and I would purchase a separate alk kit to confirm your results

The Alk and Cal test kits are API and dont expire until 2017. Corals look good but coraline algae seems to be fading a little. There is also a dust on the water surface that the LFS guy said was the sodium bicarbonate not being able to dissolve because my Mag levels were low.

I find API to be great for cycling the tank and not much else. My API alk reads 9-10 when my RedSea Pro reads 11-12. For instance today my API read 10 and my RedSea read 12.6.

Not sure if the film on top would be sodiumbicarbonate maybe someone else could chime in, Usually thats the result of poor surface agitation although after a WC I have that dust on the surface for a couple days as well. My Mag runs 1320-1440 and my Ca 400-420

I'm not sure it's undisolved sodium bicarbonate. It's density is twice that of salt water. Wouldn't float.
