    I was wondering if anyone can tell me why my cal level doesnt want to go higher than 360ppm? Im dosing 10-15cc kent liquid calcium every morning before the lights go on and seems like Im not doing it at all. My alk is a little higher than normal, could that be the reason? I tested my water last sat. and this was the result;
    dkh........13.2
    alk.........4.69
    po4........0
    cal..........360
    mag.........1200
    ph.........8.2 as of today
    amm........0
    nitrite.......0
    nitrate......0
    What do the experts have to say?

    That is part of the reason because your alkalinity is high. The second reason is due to your bioload depleting your calcium IMO!

    Well the Kent's liquid stuff is just about baby food.. Take that 20cc and bump it up to 80cc and you will see it move .. get the Kent's turbo calcium or some calcium chloride flakes aka Dow Flakes snow melt cheaper and more effective Also as for the DKH thats fine I run ours closer to 16 ob average The Mag. could come up to 1500 also that would help and not harm everything

    I agree with Tangster, however if your looking for stability and $ savings start dripping kalk, you may adjust rarely the calcium and mag but really it just works wonders

    With your alk that high, it's not going to stop the raising of Ca, that high of alk will help stop Ca percipitation, I believe your mg is a bit low and this could be the cause of the low Ca, bump your Mg to around 1300-1350ppm then dose your Ca. Here is a link to a reef calculator...plug your numbers in and dose by half to b e on the safe side...see where your numbers fall Reef Chemistry Calculator
