I am really starting to add more corals to the tank with softs and leathers but i want to get into hard corals soon and i know i need a good steady supply of calcium for them. So till i setup a sump i want to know what are people using to dose the tank and how often. Thanks all

demand in individual tanks varies and depends on a few factors
1 - quality of salt mix used
2 - type of corals kept
3 - QTY and size of said corals

some tanks as you rightly state have a high demand for calcium
other tanks with mostly softies and a few hard corals can be maintained using water changes alone

some tanks like mine for example with multiple SPS frags and mini colonies have limited Calcium and Magnesium demand , but require regular supplementation of carbonates to maintain the DKH

and this could change over time as the colonies grow and the demand for calcium may increase

regular testing is the 1st thing you need to do
Test for Calcium, Magnesium and DKH/Alk on a weekly basis

the demand you have will to much extent govern the method you use to supplement

I like to use bulkreefsupply.com to buy all of my supplements. I buy Ca chloride, Mg sulfate and chloride and soda ash. It's pretty cheap and it goes a long ways.
