    Is too much of it a bad thing? We typically keep our tanks at 400-460. Mine was at 560 today.
    I cant see how but, is this a bad thing?

    yeah, it's not an emergency but it could become a problem. too much calcium will drive down alkalinity as you get precipitation of calcium carbonate in the tank.

    I have never seen that level to cause any problems . I try to keep mine around 500 as a base it was 480 last test I lowered the PH in my reactor to 6.3 to bump it up a bit.. Since I have been able to move around a bit and getting the tank back up to speed and healthy again .. Corallins are taking off like crazy and the reaming corals aswell.. Thats the Byropsis die nt kill.

    cheers peeps! I wont bother trying to correct it but i will keep an eye on my alk levels!

    that's one reason why I don't dose ca. it seems that with every wc it goes up hardly ever down, but mine was close to 600ppm before and it don't seem to hurt anything
