Calcium along with ALK and Magnesium all play a balancing act with each other. There is no real recommended level for them as long as they are in balance
Having said that natural sea water is about 400 Ca, 8 Dkh(Alk), and 1450 Mg.

Take a look HERE and click on additives. It give a good graph of how things work

Most biologists and avid keepers of corals will recommend between 380ppm and 480ppm. Any lower and its too far off of natural seawater (412ppm) and any higher you will make it tough to maintain a proper pH and alk as like stated they all play a balancing act and like the scales of justice when one goes up one typically goes down. A solution can only have so much in it before it is oversaturated and falls out of solution. What I've seen w/ people w/ high Ca is typically high alk and low pH.
I would let the Ca fall a bit into a little more "safe" range.

    Good luck and happy reefing
