    My wife insists I stain the aquarium stand and lid a darker color to match the rest of the furniture in the room. The lid will be easy, of course (as it comes off), but what is the best way to stain the stand on my established 100 gallon tank. Is it necessary to transfer everything to another tank or can I stain the wood with the tank on the stand? :confused::eek:::):-X:-/:p::):confused::confused::confused::confused::-/:kiss::-[8):eek::confused::confused::confused:;D:confused::confused:;)::)::):-X:-X:-/:p:eek::eek:;D:cheesy:;):):confused:

    Just cover the top with plastic and stain it. I do not see any harm in it. your brushing on stain not spraying, I would turn on a fan and blow fumes from the stain away from the tank

    Be sure to turn off your skimmer when you do it. You don't want the pump sucking in the vapors.

    take the rest of the furniture outside and stain it to match the fish tank. :)

    That's an easy one, use water base stain and polyurethane. Water clean up and the poly dries super fast.

    Son of a handyman here, make sure you slide some cardboard under the stand. You sure don't want to stain the floor to the stand! I'd suggest you supply the beer and invite some burly friends over and get them to help you lift it.
